The Lake Placid Speed Skating Club will be hosting an event with a similarly valuable prize on December 7, 8, and 9 with the Lake Placid Golden Skates Marathon. As part of the Marathon Skating International 2012-2013 Event Schedule, the race will offer skaters the opportunity to race in a 10k, 21k, or 42k race, (or all three!). And like the famous event that Hans Brinker competed in, the grand prize for the male and female overall winner will be a genuine gold speed skate award. The race begins on Friday Night at 8 pm for the 10k distance. Saturday it resumes at 10 am for the 21k, and Sunday finishes with the 42k at 8 am. So come for the Golden skates, and stay for the fun racing atmosphere and outdoor racing experience! For more information and to register, visit Marathon Skating International's website, (in links).
