Welcome Summer Skating Season!

June 14, 2015 - Christie Sausa
To most people, "summer" and "figure skating" don't go together, but in Lake Placid, they do!

The summer is when figure skaters flock to Lake Placid to participate in the summer figure skating camp and partake in the two competitions held in the summer--the Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships (June 25-28) and the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships (July 29-August 1).

This year, for the first time, a new World event will be held in August, the Lake Placid Figure Championship & Figure Festival, on August 25-29 at the Olympic Center. You can read more about that in the link below.

On a personal note, I enjoy summer because not only is the weather warmer, but I get to see my friends from all over the world who come to Lake Placid to skate.

So what have I been up to? I finally graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Communications, and have been writing steadily now that I have more time.

You can check out my latest articles in the blog links box--I have written about black flies, figure skating, figures, life, and social media (on my personal blog, that is). I look forward to writing more for the Lake Placid News this summer, including the Meet the Skaters column. I will also be posting here fairly regularly.

You can also check out my new and improved website and blog, Lake Placid Skater, which is also linked in the blog links box.

Hope you have a great summer and see you on the internet!

Best, Christie
