Ironman grows again
October 23, 2015 - Morgan Ryan
The Ironman schedule of events added a new race Thursday when it was announced that Atlantic City would host a 70.3 on Sept. 18, 2016.
“We are now an Ironman city,” declared Jim Wood, president/CEO of Meet AC and the Atlantic City Sports Commission, during a press conference on the Atlantic City Boardwalk on Thursday, according to a Press of Atlantic City article.
Atlantic City's Ironman 70.3 will replace the Challenge Atlantic City that offered both half- and full-distance triathlons, but had seen a decrease in participants. Ironman swooped in and seized the opportunity.
Atlantic City is now one of 79 Ironman 70.3s offered around the world in 2016. You can find the full list here.
There are 32 full Ironmans on the schedule for 2016, of course including Lake Placid on July 24.
