Doug Razzano starring in July 9 Ice Show

July 7, 2016 - Christie Sausa
Every summer season, the Olympic Center hosts the Saturday Night Ice Shows, a series of exhibitions which allow skaters training in Lake Placid the opportunity to perform under spotlights in the famous 1932 rink . Each show features a special guest skater, a skater of National or International renown who (often) has direct or indirect ties to Lake Placid’s figure skating history. Almost all of them had at one point trained, competed, or performed in Lake Placid, so they often report feeling a sense of “coming home” when performing in the shows.

The second Saturday Night Ice Show of the summer season is on July 9th in the 1932 arena, featuring International competitor Doug Razzano. He will be starring alongside Lake Placid Summer figure skating camp participants.

Razzano starred in one of last year’s Summer Ice Shows, and discussed his retirement from competitive skating, his coaching, modeling, and officiating ambitions, and his plans to skate professionally.

I will be interviewing Razzano this weekend, and will ask about his progress towards these goals, as well as what his upcoming season looks like and how he is enjoying his retirement from competition.

Last weekend, Ross Miner starred in the first Saturday Night Ice Show of the Season—you can read my article about him in this week’s Lake Placid News, (week July 7 – 13).
