2nd cyclist fatally struck by bus in same NYC area in 1 week

June 17, 2017
Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a bicycle rider has been struck and killed by a charter bus in Manhattan.

The fatal collision Saturday was the second involving a bicycle and a charter bus in the same neighborhood in the last week.

Saturday's crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. at West 29th Street and Seventh Avenue. Police say the bus hit the bicycle as the bus driver was trying to make a right turn.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital. His name was not immediately released.

The bus driver has not been arrested.

The crash occurred just three blocks from where 36-year-old cyclist Dan Hanegby collided with a charter bus on Monday.

Hanegby also was pronounced dead at Bellevue. His death was the first involving the Citi Bike bike-share program.
