Carl A. Thompson

    LAKE PLACID — Carl A. Thompson, 75, of Whiteface Inn Lane, Lake Placid, passed away Sunday, March 7 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.


    Mr. Thompson was born in Lake Placid Aug. 20, 1934, the son of Archibald and Louva (King) Thompson.


    He was a graduate of Lake Placid High School and a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country in the United States Navy.


    Mr. Thompson had worked in Lake Placid as a plumber in the boiler room at the Lake Placid Club and later for Fagan’s Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 326, Lake Placid.


    Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife Grace (Merrill) Thompson of Lake Placid; two sons, David Thompson and his wife Marene of Lewis and John Merrill and his wife Elizabeth of DeRuyter; two daughters, Linda Cummins and her husband Jeffrey of Newton, N.J. and Susan Holmes and her companion Hal German of Hampshire, Texas. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Thompson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


    He was predeceased by his brother Burton Thompson, who died November 1997.


    There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.


    The family of Mr. Thompson has requested friends wishing to remember Carl send donations to the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department or the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service in his memory. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
