LAKE PLACID — Doris L. Rupp, of Lake Placid, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 21, 2011.
Doris was born to Melvin and Ethel Hopper on Oct. 15, 1925, in Pompton Lakes, N.J.
Doris grew up a real country girl. She owned her own horse and competed as a barrel racer in the rodeo.
She loved nature and going for walks. She wrote poetry and enjoyed sketching and painting. Doris was a member of the Air Force Auxilary, and she had her private pilot’s license.
Doris married Albert F. Rupp on Feb. 14, 1959. They moved to Dumont, N.J., where Doris was a very active member of Old North Reformed Church.
Twenty-two years ago ,Doris and Albert moved to Lake Placid for their retirement years, giving Doris the opportunity to really enjoy nature. She and Albert took up cross-country skiing, hiking and boating on the lakes, even building their own wooden canoe.
Doris is survived by her daughter Kathy Johnsen and her husband Tim of Lake Clear.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert and her two brothers, Robert and Herbert, and her two sisters, Evelyn and Virginia.
Funeral services for Albert and Doris Rupp were held Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Trinity Chapel on Old Military Road, Lake Placid. Burial followed at the North Elba Cemetery.
