LAKE PLACID - Cascade Ski Center held its first Wood'n Ski Rendezvous on March 3. The race required skiers to complete the 5-kilometer course using wooden skis and bamboo poles.
Awards were also given out for vintage dress.
Richard Erenstone of Lake Placid was the first to cross the line, clocking a time of 31:29. He was followed by Jennie Sausville in 31:46 and Margaret O'Leary in 32:26.
Racers take off at the start of the Wood’n Ski Rendezvous on March 3 at Cascade Ski Center. Requirements for the race included wooden skis, bamboo poles, 3-pin bindings and knickers.
Ned VanWort was the second male finisher in 32:48 and Ken Briel was third in 32:56. Diane Miller placed third on the women's side with a time of 34:17.
Sue Capone won the ladies award for most vintage dress, while Mike Sheridan won the award for the men.
There were 32 participants in the races and many more dressed for the occasion. Following the races. the event moved inside and onto the outside deck where people enjoyed live music and good food.
