Lake Placid skiers Daniel Blake of Northwood School and Logan Rip Mackie of National Sports Academy took the top two spots in the giant slalom race at the Eastern Junior FIS Finals held at Whiteface Mountain on Monday, March 12. Blake, who finished first, and Mackie, who was second, are pictured on the podium with Jake Van Deursen following the event. More than 160 of the top Eastern Junior ski racers competed in slalom and giant slalom men’s and women’s races. Other local racers in the top 10 were: Antonelli Brielle of National Sports Academy (seventh, giant slalom), Kalen Griffin of Northwood School (ninth, giant slalom), Blake (second, slalom), William Larosa-Verdon of Northwood (seventh, slalom), Brielle (second, slalom) and Manon Edeline of Northwood School (slalom).
