LAKE PLACID - Jeffrey Allan Rock, 58, of Lake Placid, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and sons on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer and heart conditions.

Jeff was born and raised in Newton, Mass., and graduated from Newton High School. Jeff attended Tufts University in Medford, Mass., and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. He continued his master's studies at the Tuck Graduate Program at Dartmouth until his graduation in 1980.

Jeff always had a passion and love for gardening, flowers, skiing, traveling, sports and Chinese food. He will never forget the countless memories he had at his favorite restaurant in Newton named South Pacific.

One of Jeff's most recent proud moments was the marriage of his son Michael to his beautiful wife Jessica on Jan. 28, 2012. It was a special and joyous occasion where he was able to share this very special moment for him and his son with all of his friends and loved ones.

Jeff will live on through all the special friendships he made both personally and professionally. He would be especially proud of his ever-lasting friendships he has with his Tuck friends as well as his professional colleague Doug Jendras, who has turned into a very important friend to him over the past years.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. Rabbi Alec Friedmann will officiate.
