Local skaters compete at regionals in N.J.

Six skaters from local figure skating clubs competed at the North Atlantic Regional Championships from Oct. 5-9 in Hackensack, N.J.

Competing for the Skating Club of Lake Placid, Ciana Cerruti placed 14th in Juvenile Girls Group A, earning 21.34 points. Her teammate Sandra Harper skated to 18th place in Juvenile Girls Group D, with a point total of 20.68.

Elena Gonzalez Molinos skated well enough to pass the Novice Ladies Group B qualifying round and skate in the final divisions. Her point total was 78.42, and she ended up in 13th place overall.

Last but not least, SCLP skater Aaron Gunderson-Smith had a strong showing in the Novice Men category, placing first in the short program and second in the free skate, recording 92.16 points overall.

Skating Club of Lake Placid competitor Kendall Wyckoff competed at the New England Regional Championships on October 15th and 16th, placing 13th overall with 88.26 points total.

Two Saranac Lake Figure Skating Academy members participated in the North Atlantic Regional Championships also. Hayden Hartman placed 10th in the Intermediate Ladies Group A with 32.14 points. Competing in the Novice Ladies Group C category, Gina Fiorile earned 33.33 points, skating to 12th place.
