Lake Placid News

WILMINGTON (AP) - Four days in June have been set aside for the fourth annual Wilmington Whiteface Bike Fest, with a 50-kilometer race added to the 100K main event.

The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority announced this week that the bike fest will be held June 13-16 at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, near Lake Placid.

The main event, a 62-mile race, will be held on Sunday, June 16. The race begins and ends at Whiteface Mountain, with competitors navigating twisting back roads and trails en route to the finish line.

This year, a 31-mile race has been added to the lineup in the hopes of attracting more athletes who might someday tackle the full 100K race. The Whiteface 100K is a qualifying event for Colorado's prestigious Leadville 100.
