LAKE PLACID - Nina Armstrong won the 3,000- and the 1,500-meter races Tuesday, April 23 to lead the Lake Placid girls track and field team to an 83-43 dual meet victory over Ticonderoga at the North Elba Show Grounds.
The Lake Placid boys fell in their meet against Ticonderoga 113-13.
Armstrong won the 1,500 with a time of 5 minutes, 35 seconds, beating out teammate Elisabeth Ashley, who was second in 6:10. Lake Placid sophomore Sage Miller was third in the race with a 6:21.

Armstrong won the 3,000 in 12:34.
Other winners for Lake Placid were Kendra Manning (100, 13.6), Jillian Goulette (triple jump, 22 feet, 6 inches), Esther Munoz (discus, 53-1) and Lauren Rossi (shot put, 23-10).
The Lake Placid girls swept the relay races.
Nzoni Thompson was the lone winner for Lake Placid in the individual events. Thompson won the long jump with a leap of 16-7.
The Blue Bombers boys also were victorious in the 1,600 relay, turning in a time of 4:32.
LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid girls track and field team opened the season on a good note Saturday, April 20, outscoring its four opponents to take first place in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Division II Invitational at the North Elba Show Grounds.
The Blue Bombers girls racked up 107 team points, followed by EKMW with 87 points, Seton Catholic with 47, AuSable Valley with 47 and Ticonderoga with 31.
Ticonderoga was the top boys team with 106 points. AuSable Valley was second with 81, followed by EKMW with 68, Seton Catholic with 61 and Lake Placid with 17.
Gabby Armstrong, Nina Armstrong and Esther Munoz each won individual events for Lake Placid. Gabby Armstrong won the 1,500-meter race in 5:59.4, while her sister Nina was the top runner in the 800 after crossing the line in 2:49.3.
Gabby Armstrong was also part of the winning 400 and 3,200-meter relays. She was joined by Rachael Ashley, Sage Miller and her sister in the 3,200 relay team that finished in 11:36.1. Ashley, Jilly Goulette and Kendra Manning joined her to finish the 400 relay in 59.1 seconds.
Munoz was the top girls discus thrower after a 57-feet-1 1/4 hurl. Teammate Lauren Rossi was second (51-10 3/4) and Tatiana Kobe of Lake Placid was third with a 48-8.
Munoz also finished second in the shot put with a throw of 22-4. Haley Taylor of AuSable Valley won the event with a 23-3 1/2.
The Lake Placid boys' 3,200 relay team of Forest Ledger, Stuart Baird, Curtis Rissberber and Corey Detwiler took fifth place in 10:32. Seton Catholic won the event in 9:31.5.
