LAKE PLACID - The annual Fourth of July parade down Main Street is coming and all children have a special invitation.
For more than 30 years Jerry Strack, owner of Central Garage will offer prizes to kids who decorate their bicycles - or other pedal-crafts - in patriotic red, white and blue.
Strack, who pays out of his own pocket, will give all children who ride in the parade at least $5 each. Strack told the News that there will also be two first-place awards given.

The line-up for parade participants is at 4:30 p.m. on Cummins Road in front of the Olympic Center. The parade turns left onto Main Street and ends at High Peaks Resort.
Parade organizers also invite bands or other groups and organizations to march in the festive patriotic parade. "Anyone and everyone is invited to participate" according to a press release by organizers. Those interested should contact Sue Cameron at the Lake Placid Visitors Bureau at 518-523-2445 for more information.
Also on July 4th is the annual Lake Placid fireworks show, "Set the Night to Music," which is now in its 25th year. Fireworks will be choreographed to music, broadcast live over WSLP 93.3 FM, beginning promptly at 9:45 p.m. over Mirror Lake.
