To the editor:
Congratulations to the Lake Placid Business Association for the ongoing success of the Holiday Village Stroll. Particular credit should be given to MaryJane Lawrence, who is a main, passionate pursuer of this effort. You were right to state in your editorial that it was the LPBA and not the visitors bureau who organized the original Holiday Village Stroll. It seems to me the visitors bureau should be focused more on doing things to bring business in the off season periods like the Holiday Stroll, some kind of a Halloween Village effort (which is hugely successful in Saratoga) and similar things throughout the soft seasons of the year.
Kudos also, to the Lake Placid businesses that are taking the initiative to reimburse people for parking during the holidays while they are shopping. It's great that this organization is willing to take this initiative. It would be equally great if our visitors bureau and government joined these efforts to entice people to come to this community and spend their hard earned dollars buying gifts and participating in the events in the community during this traditionally slow time.
