Eugene R. Goodman, 80, formerly of Queensbury, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Indian River Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past year.
Born on Jan. 30, 1933 in Gabriels, he was the son of the late George and Bertha (Fayette) Goodman.
Gene was a graduate of Newcomb Central School. He joined the United States Army in 1952 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, earning a Bronze Star.
He married Joyce Douglas, of Fort Edward, on Sept. 13, 1959. She passed away in 1988.
Gene worked for Ciba Geigy before retiring in 1959 after many years of dedicated employment. He then went on to work for the town of Queensbury and for Warren County. He was a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #81.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Clyde, Wilbur and Wallace Goodman; his sisters, Alice Barton and Martha Sheffield; his nephews, Douglas, Randy and Thomas Goodman; and his niece, Susan (Goodman) Lookenhill.
He is survived by his son, Jaime (Wanda) Goodman, of Queensbury; his sisters, Janet Monaghan, of Mississippi and Joyce Jacques, of Lake Placid; along with several nieces and nephews.
Gene was interred at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
