Mirror Lake ice is out

LAKE PLACID -Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service officials announced April 27 that the Mirror Lake ice went out Saturday afternoon, April 26 at 4:55 p.m. as declared by ice meister Jack Irvin.

Winners of the ice-out contest were Caroline Roy, 2 minutes off; Lisa Weibrecht, 5 minutes off; Mary Liz Alexander, 10 minutes off; Barbara Boatman, 1 hour and 5 minutes off; and Linda Warner, 1 hour and 35 minutes off.

LPVAS officials are now looking forward to the ice on Lake Placid lake disappearing.

This year's proceeds are going toward the demolition of the ambulance service's 1976 deteriorating garage on Mill Pond Drive. More than 530 tickets were sold this year.
