MALONE - The top high school golfers from Section VII and Section X got together Wednesday at Malone Golf Club for the annual Craig Chisum Golf Tournament.
Saranac Lake junior Ethan Sawyer came within a stroke of carding the best round of the day. He shot a 37 on the front nine then did the same on the back nine, finishing just behind Brushton-Moira's Devin Delisle who turned in a 73.
Jordan Guay of Peru placed third with a 77, followed by Saranac Lake senior Dustin Fischer and Ogdensburg's Conor Hannan who both shot 79s.

Section VII won the intersectional scoring with an average score of 88.8 to beat out Section X with a 92.47 percentage.
Kiefer Casler of Lake Placid carded an 83, while teammate Bjorn Kroes shot an 87 and Pat Kane turned in an 88.
Austin Ecret was Saranac Lake's third golfer. The senior turned in a score of 91.
Josh Pickering, a sophomore, was Tupper Lake's top golfer with an 18-hole score of 89. Teammate Riley Amell turned in a 94 for the 14th best score of Section X golfers.
The tournament included three players from each school represented who had the lowest averages during the regular season. Fifty five students and 20 coaches participated.
Section X won the Coaches Cup with an average score of 84.87. Section VII shot an average of 85. Saranac Lake coach Chris Stevens placed third in the coaches' tournament with a score of 81.
The tournament is held in memory of Craig Chisum, an avid golfer who was tragically killed by a drunk driver while attending Methodist College in North Carolina in the late 1980s. His father Mel was a longtime PGA golf professional at the Bluff Point Country Club in Plattsburgh. Each year, a scholarship in Chisum's name is awarded to a Franklin Academy student who is pursuing a business degree and has a strong interest in the game of golf.
Casler, Kroes and Kane will represent Lake Placid in the state tournament at Cornell University in Ithaca. The tournament begins with a practice round Saturday, followed by competition rounds Sunday and Monday.
Sawyer and Fischer will represent Saranac Lake, while Amell will be the lone Tupper Lake golfer.
