To the editor:
Enormous thanks go to Ed and Lisa Weibrecht for their tremendous generosity in hosting the 30th Joy to the Children event to benefit the Lake Placid Center for the Arts children's programs. The Weibrechts, the Mirror Lake Inn and it's staff provided a dazzling holiday night at the Mirror Lake Inn where 500 people shared Christmas cheer as they supported programs that continue to bring all forms of art into our children's lives. Our community is very grateful to you.
More than $100,000 was raised this year to support LPCA's arts education programs. Each season, hundreds of children from the region attend these programs including the Young and Fun series, summer art camps, and After School Workshops. These inspiring programs expose youngsters to theater, music, dance, and art. Our region's schools and home schools bring busloads of students to the School Day Matinee program where they see special performances by artists visiting the LPCA stage. Children who attended these programs years ago now have their own children who are attending these wonderful classes and performances.
Thanks also go to the generous businesses and individuals who helped sponsor the event, to those who donated items for the silent auction, to the many volunteers who helped make, gather, and display auction items, and to all the people who bought tickets and auction items.
Thank you Weibrechts for your leadership in helping to establish and maintain this unique and important resource for the families in our region. You bring joy to our lives.
President, LPCA Board of Trustees
