Linda L. Bates-McCasland, 68, of Bonnie Drive, Lake Placid, died at her home from complications of COPD with her family by her side on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017.
Mrs. Bates-McCasland was born Sept. 30, 1948 in Saranac Lake. She is the daughter of Francis and Phoebe (Snow) Whisher. She married Norman McCasland on Oct. 4, 1998.
Linda loved God, her family, animals, music and friends.
She is survived by her husband Norman McCasland of Lake Placid; two daughters: Roberta Bates of Lake Placid and Deborah Bates of Saranac Lake; three granddaughters: Courtney Giddings of Virginia, Christina Giddings of Minnesota and Kayla Giddings of Saranac Lake; two step-daughters: Sharon Stevens and her husband Bernie of Saranac Lake and Noreen Venghaus and her husband Kevin of South Carolina; one brother, Ernest Banker Jr. of Alabama; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Frank and Phoebe Whisher and Ernest and Zana Banker; her first husband Robert Bates; her daughter Lynda Whisher; and her sister Juanita Preston.
There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
The M. B. Clark Inc. funeral home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
