Thanks for Wings and Wheels benefit support

To the editor:

On July 9, I chaired the Wings and Wheels Event at Marcy Field. This combined the exciting events of the Keene Valley Farmers Market, a great custom car show organized by Chris Straight, president of the Adirondack Side Step Car Club, and the first annual Marcy Field Fly-In Breakfast.

The event was a huge success and we were able to net $750 to be donated to the Keene Food Pantry and the Keene Volunteer Fire Department. We also were able to bring in a large amount of food, thanks to the generous people in the area' to donate to the pantry. Supplies for the breakfast and several beautiful items for the raffle were enthusiastically donated by local businesses.

Lake Placid News Staff Writer Tony Olivero did an outstanding job of reporting on the event, but there was one key group that I was remiss in not getting into the article and that was the great town of Keene staff. Joe Pete Wilson, the town supervisor, backed by his hard working staff including Ellen, Susan, Ryan and TJ, were really the people who allowed this to happen and be such a success.

As usual, on the day of the event, everything that was forgotten quickly steps up to haunt you ... until Joe Pete on his mountain bike and Ryan and TJ in the truck showed up to pitch in and really get things rolling. Thanks to their constant support, the event was a huge success and provided a great time for all who showed up for the event.

Again, I can't thank enough the generous merchants of the Keene and Lake Placid area that so generously supported this event. All I had to do was mention the firemen and the food pantry and the first thing I heard was, "How can we help." Next year we WILL double our donation to the VFD and pantry at the second annual Marcy Field event.
