Library system thankful for Sen. Betty Little’s funding support

To the editor:

On behalf of the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System "community", I am writing to acknowledge and thank Sen. Elizabeth O'C. Little for her 2017 Grant-in-Aid for the public libraries and reading centers in our region.

Our members are wonderful, often very small, libraries that provide extraordinary services to their patrons. Despite their limited budgets, there is no limit to our rural directors' creativity in serving their communities. I am confident that the $1,000 grant that they each will receive from Senator Little will be spent wisely and will greatly benefit local constituents.

Sen. Little has also generously provided a $9,000 grant to us at System headquarters for an upgrade to our shared Horizon online library portal. This upgrade will provide local residents of all ages with more seamless access to our shared collections, including eBooks and downloadable audio books which are becoming more popular. We are planning to feature different collections, such as local history, Adirondack hikes or summer reading lists for kids and summer "beach" reads for adults. We have been creating library guides to both print and online resources such as "Routes to Recovery" from addictions, genealogy, a local author database and job search tools.

The Board, management and staff at the CEFLS Library System are thankful that our member libraries have been recognized by Senator Little's office. Her ongoing support translates directly to the success and well-being of all area residents with a library card.
