Richard Guinan, a hiker who was rescued after two unplanned nights on St. Regis Mountain over the weekend, is giving thanks to all those involved in the search.

He spoke to Adirondack Health officials to distribute the following statement:

"My family and I are extremely grateful to all those who assisted in my search and rescue effort, as well as to everyone who offered up their thoughts and prayers. Specifically, we'd like to thank the New York State Forest Rangers and Department of Environmental Conservation, the New York State Police, my fellow soldiers at Fort Drum and the larger Army community, Search and Rescue of the Northern Adirondacks, local volunteer fire departments, Adirondack Health, Paul Smith's College, the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A special thank you to Ranger Russell for coordinating the search, and Trooper Jen for hoisting me into the helicopter.
