Lake Placid News

Anne Wolford Damp passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born on May 10, 1934 in Rochester, the oldest of three children born to the late Raymond and Margaret Wolford. She married the late Edward C. Damp on June 30, 1956.

Anne was a proud registered nurse and worked at various medical facilities having served as a school nurse, head nurse and director of nursing.

Anne was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, Jupiter Lighthouse Chapter, Jupiter/Tequesta Florida.

Anne and Ed lived in Lake Placid and worked in Lake Placid and Keene New York for many decades. They were partners in work and in love. Anne was retired former owner of Wilkins Insurance Agency and Century 21 Wilkins Agency. Anne was active in many different volunteer organizations and she served on the Lake Placid School Board having served as president. She was Chief of Timing during the alpine events for the 1980 Winter Olympics.

Anne summered on the west shore of Lake Placid at camp Loch Hame for decades and wintered at Tequesta Gardens in Tequesta, Florida for the past half dozen years.

Anne loved to sail, drag tubers. Very few can claim they were never knocked off by Anne; some can even claim broken ribs. She also loved the outdoors, laughing with friends and family, bridge, genealogy, swimming, the sound of the loons and the solitude that the lakes and mountains provide. We already miss you mom!

Anne will be sorely missed by her surviving children Chuck and Ruth Damp of Ray Brook, Raymond and Patricia Damp, Michael and Dana Damp and Mary and Michael Hoyt all of Lake Placid. She is also survived by six grandchildren Robert Bagg, Chase Damp, Megan Bagg, Ryan Damp, Evan Damp and Marli Damp as well as several nieces and nephews.
