Planned power outage will last nine hours Monday night

November 10, 2017
Lake Placid News

LAKE PLACID - A nine-hour power outage is planned for 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 until 6 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14 in this village.

The outage permits National Grid to fix a 115-kilovolt switch and exchange two 115KV transmission poles for working units. The repairs are to prevent involuntary outages produced by faulty equipment.

The outage was originally planned for eight hours, not nine.

"While we regret extending the outage by an hour," Lake Placid Mayor Craig Randall said, "we feel this is more convenient than the outage lasting past 6 a.m."

If the weather doesn't allow repairs, the outage will take place Nov. 15 and require the same amount of time.
