Blue Bombers baseball rallies past Chazy

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid baseball team scored in bunches Monday in a 12-4 Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference victory over Chazy.

The Blue Bombers first rally came in the second inning when the offense posted five runs to take a 5-1 lead. Chazy chipped away at the lead, scoring one run in the fourth inning and another two in the fifth to cut its deficit to 5-4.

After Lake Placid scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, the Bombers put the game out of reach with six runs in the sixth.

Duncan Segger went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Noah Marshall collected two hits, two RBIs and one run scored to pace the Lake Placid offense.

Jesse Izzo, the winning pitcher, had two RBIs, two runs scored and a single. He threw five innings, struck out nine and gave up three hits and three walks to earn the victory.

Colin Hayes earned the save on the mound after two innings of work. He struck out three and gave up one hit.

Bruce Juneau went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to pace Chazy offensively.


Saranac Lake 6, AuSable Valley 3

AUSABLE FORKS - The Saranac Lake baseball team used a steady defensive effort late in the game Monday to hold off AuSable Valley and secure a 6-3 victory.

Rhett Darrah went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored and Dylan Stewart collected a double, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Red Storm offensively. Quinn Peer and David Warner each chipped in two hits.

Darrah was also credited with the pitching win after going the distance, striking out five and allowing 12 hits over seven innings.

"We finally got after the ball offensively and were able to pick up several extra base hits," Saranac Lake coach Kyle Mochol said. "We stayed on top of AuSable and kept getting the outs we needed to fend them off. This was a great win for us and we are looking to carry the momentum from this win into the final portion of the season."

Connor Devins went 3-for-4 and scored a run to pace the AuSable Valley offense.



Massena 14, Saranac Lake 7

SARANAC?LAKE?- The Massena girls lacrosse team secured a 14-7 victory over Saranac Lake on Monday at North Country Community College.

The Red Storm fell to 1-5 overall with the loss, while league-leading Massena improved to 7-1.



Lake Placid 4, Northern Adirondack 1

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid boys tennis team claimed its second win of the season, topping Northern Adirondack 4-1 Monday at home.

Sonja Toishi and Camden Reiley posted singles triumphs for the Blue Bombers, who also swept both doubles matches.

All four Lake Placid wins came in straight sets.

Competing in second singles, Toishi claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win, and Reiley won all 12 games on the way to a 6-0, 6-0 win in third singles.

Tucker Jakobe and Tristan Spotts took their first doubles match 6-4, 6-4, and in second doubles, Bailey Bartholomew and Ben Isabella earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

Ethan Warick captured the Bobcats' lone victory, defeating Lake Placid's Sawyer Chase 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in a close contest between each team's top singles player.

The match marked the first time this season Lake Placid competed with a full-seven player roster. Bartholomew is the newest addition to the team and won in his competitive debut on Monday.

The Blue Bombers will be at home again today to host Schroon Lake starting at 3:30 p.m.
