Caligiore stays hot on pro tour

Lake Placid News

DAHLONEGA, Georgia - One month after winning the Hartford Open, Aimee Caligiore kept the momentum going with a tie for seventh place in an Eggland's Best Ladies Pro Golf Tour event in Georgia, followed by a tie for 16th at the Georgia Open.

The Lake Placid native recorded rounds of 77-73 (par 72) on the narrow Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton, Georgia on July 11-12. Several days later and four hours north of Tifton, Caligiore posted 76-73 (par 72) on saturated Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega on July 15-16.

"I had one round in each of the tournaments that I was happy with and the other that was not acceptable," said the former Lake Placid Blue Bomber and St. Lawrence University All-America. "But I was happy that I could put those so-so rounds behind me and then go out the next day and play some really good golf in each of the second rounds. There's lots of good stuff in my game that consistently shows up. I'm driving the ball really well and am hitting lots of greens. My plan is to continue to work on my putting and short game to take a few more strokes off each round."

At the Georgia Open, she missed seven greens in the final round, but was able to save par each time from just off the putting surface.

Upon returning to her adopted home in Orlando, Caligiore is now preparing for the Florida Open in Vero Beach Aug. 9-11, prior to the long trip to Palm Springs, Calif. for the LPGA Qualifying Tournament in late August.
