NEW YORK (AP) — The rainbow flags are out along Fifth Avenue for New York City's annual gay pride march.
Politicians including Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio are among those walking Sunday along a lavender line painted on the avenue from midtown Manhattan to the West Village.
The parade route passes The Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 riots in the Village that started the gay rights movement. The parade is marking the 45th anniversary of the event.
The grand marshals of the parade include transgender actress and activist Laverne Cox, actor Jonathan Groff, and Rea Carey, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
