Van strikes 3 pedestrians, killing 1 in Brooklyn

July 3, 2014
Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say one person has died after a stolen minivan hopped a curb in Brooklyn and struck three people who were walking on the sidewalk.

The three female pedestrians were rushed to Kings County Hospital in serious condition with severe body trauma following the crash around 4:45 p.m., Wednesday in the Flatlands neighborhood.

Police did not release the name or age of the person who died.

They say the 2005 Dodge Caravan had been reported stolen Friday in another part of Brooklyn. They say a preliminary investigation shows the driver lost control and jumped the curb.

The driver fled the scene on foot and hasn't been found.

Police say he was last seen on Schenectady Avenue.
