NEW YORK (AP) — The NYPD is questioning a suspect arrested on charges of carjacking to determine whether he had any connection to two killings on Staten Island over the weekend.
Tyrell Brown was arrested Tuesday night near the Verrazano Bridge for allegedly stealing a black Hummer at gunpoint on Staten Island on Sunday.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle after spotting it Monday on the bridge, police say Brown initially stopped but then sped off and broke through the toll barrier.
Police say Brown was released on parole in May after serving time for a robbery.
They are investigating whether he was connected to two separate killings Sunday, which occurred shortly before the carjacking.
It wasn't immediately known if Brown had a lawyer.
