Ice meisters named for Ice Out Benefit

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service is currently holding its annual Ice Out Benefit.

The Mirror Lake ice meisters are Jenn Holderied Webb, Theresa Brady and Andy Orringer. The criteria for Mirror Lake is “lake substantially open, from shore to shore, from village to the Boathouse, maybe some in end bays.” The range for Mirror Lake is March 23 in 2012 to May 13 in 1971.

The ice meisters for Lake Placid lake are Brian Bliss, Marty and Mary Shubert, and Jim Forsyth. For Lake Placid, the criteria is “navigate around the lake and through the straights.” The range for Lake Placid is March 26 in 2013 to May 16 in 1972.

Last year, the ice went out on Mirror Lake on April 14 and on Lake Placid lake on April 20.

Tickets are available at the Lake Placid Visitors Center, North Elba Town Hall, LPVAS station at 388 Mill Pond Dr. and from members. Each ticket gives one a chance to estimate the time and date the ice will break out of Mirror Lake and Lake Placid lake. There will be five winners per lake.

The deadline to buy tickets is April 1.
