Pave and wave

Kubricky Construction finishing Lake Placid to Saranac Lake section of Adirondack Rail Trail

Workers from Kubricky Construction pave one of the two parking lots along the Adirondack Rail Trail where it crosses state Route 86 outside of Saranac Lake on Wednesday morning, Oct. 11. The almost 10-mile section from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake, Phase 1 of the project, is expected to be complete this fall. Construction of Phase 2 of the trail, from Saranac Lake to Floodwood Road, began earlier this year and is expected to be complete in the fall of 2024. Phase 3, from Floodwood Road to Tupper Lake, is exected to be finished in the fall of 2025. (News photo — Andy Flynn)

The 34-mile Adirondack Rail Trail will be a year-round, multi-use recreational trail — on state land — under the management of the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The Adirondack Rail Trail Association, a friends group, is working with stakeholders to promote the trail. The sections are closed while under construction. Once open, the DEC expects users to include bicyclists, hikers, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers.

Starting at $1.44/week.
