Placid Lions Club Radio Auction hits the air Saturday
This year’s Lake Placid Lions Club Annual Radio Auction is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the charitable donation of airtime by Radio Station Lake FM 100.7/102.1 FM. The studio will be located at the Shipman Youth Center where items can also be picked up by the highest bidders.
Members of the Lake Placid Lions Club (LPLC) will be present throughout the day to announce items that were donated by local businesses and organizations, and to take phone call bids to determine the winners. Fifteen-minute slates of up to five items as well as half and full day items will account for the day’s agenda.
Revenues raised at this Auction will be used toward the many projects which the LP Lions are involved with including support of the High Peaks Hospice, Ecumenical Food Pantry, Christmas Party for Town Children, Youth Ski Jump Competition, Diabetes Foundation, Fire Department, Ambulance Service, North Country Life Flight, Shipman Youth Center, Boy Scouts and many other services for the community.
The largest project is the Eye Care Assistance program, which exceeds two thousand dollars a year.
In addition, we support the North Country Association for the visually impaired as well as the New York State Lions Federations. These Foundations make major contributions to disaster relief and humanitarian projects.
It is only through the generosity of our supporters that this auction has been successful for many years. The Lake Placid Lions thanks all who have generously donated to this years and past Auctions.
An exciting example of our all-day items is A Cloudsplitter Club Membership, which is a season long program at Whiteface Mountain for skiers and riders of all abilities – ages 7-15. This 10-week program includes a full season pass. Participants are grouped according to ability and are guided by coaches who strive to make learning exciting while promoting challenging goals. The goal is to have fun, connect with friends, and gain confidence and skill while getting in lots of turns and experience on snow. This is a great program and opportunity to support a new Cloudsplitter member come Rain or Shine
We are always open to recruiting and accepting new members. If you are interested in learning more about the LP Lions Club, feel free to contact King Lion Dan Wikoff at 518-523-7520 or send a note to: The Lions Club of Lake Placid, PO Box 296, Lake Placid New York 12946
