Saranac Lake ArtWorks begins efforts in new year
Saranac Lake ArtWorks held its annual meeting on Jan. 22 and is currently in the midst of its annual membership campaign for its 17th year.
Approved officers in 2025 are; Tara Palen, President, Ann Haskell, Vice-President, Anne Heinz, Secretary, and Lester Parker, Treasurer. During the meeting the ArtWorks board and members in attendance celebrated the retirement of President and Co-Founder, Sandra Hildreth, with a Scholarship in her name. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior in the Saranac Lake School District continuing their education in the arts. An in-person celebration for her retirement will take place Aug. 21, at Hotel Saranac, as part of the Adirondack Plein Air Festival. More details to come.
ArtWorks’ mission is to bring artists, art organizations, galleries, theaters, and audiences together, for the economic benefit of our members as well as our communities. ArtWorks events such as the third Thursday ArtWalks, ArtMarkets, Studio Tours, and the Adirondack Plein Air Festival, offer unique opportunities for artists and art enthusiasts to connect and celebrate art in our community.
A full-color member directory brochure is published each year, with every member, their art, and contact information provided. 13,000 brochures were distributed throughout the region from the Tri-Lakes to the eastern Adirondacks and the Berkshires to the Capital Region. Over 25 online and print ads promoting the arts in our region were published, along with rack cards, banners, radio announcements and other promotional materials. The events our members hold are promoted on our social media and through the comprehensive Adirondack Arts & Entertainment online calendar, which is embedded on our website.
Annual fees to become a member of Saranac Lake ArtWorks in 2025 have remained the same: $50 for a developing artists, $150 for professional artists, $200 for galleries and organizations. Supporters of the arts are also encouraged to join for a $25 donation. Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact Lorraine Merrihew, admin@saranaclakeartworks.org.
Saranac Lake ArtWorks appreciates all the support it receives from individuals and businesses in the Tri-Lakes area and we are looking forward to having another successful year. The organization believes the arts can help attract visitors, businesses, and new residents to our region, and enhance the lives of those of us who do live here, for the economic benefit of all.
