Asbury Short Film Concert is March 21
LAKE PLACID– Asbury Shorts USA, New York City’s longest running, non-competitive short film exhibition and touring show, will present its nationally recognized “44th Asbury Short Film Concert” on Friday, March 21 at The Lake Placid Center for the Arts.
The first film hits the screen at 7 p.m. The event is presented by Adirondack Film for the “See Something That Means Something” film series. Doug LeClaire, founder and director of Asbury Shorts USA, will serve as the show’s host and will speak after the screening.
The short film “concert” combines classic shorts with current festival honorees providing a rare opportunity for audiences to see globally honored films on a real cinema screen rather than a computer, smart phone or tablet. Academy Award nominated director Jason Reitman (“JUNO,” “Up in the Air,” “Thank You for Smoking” “Young Adult” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”) calls Asbury Shorts: “The best short film show I’ve ever seen.”
Asbury Short Film Concerts have been presented at The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Vero Beach Museum of Art in Florida, Summer Stage in Central Park, The Linda Performing Arts Studio in Albany, The Director’s Guild Theater in Manhattan, Osprey Arts Center in Nova Scotia, Canada, The AERO in Santa Monica, Calirofnia, Royal Festival Hall in London, U.K. and the Leminske Theater in Berlin, Germany, including seven previous times at The Lake Placid Center for the Arts.
The mission of the Adirondack Film is “to advance the art and the appreciation of film and filmmaking in the Adirondacks.” The organization’s goals include presenting high-quality independent art, foreign language, documentary and high-end studio films.
The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is located at 17 Algonquin Drive in Lake Placid. For further information, visit www.adirondackfilm.org or call 718-510-6929.
