Robert S. Bugbee Jr.
Robert Stuart Bugbee Jr., 65, passed away at home on Oct. 11, 2024.
He was born April 1, 1959, in Stanford, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Larson) Bugbee.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother son-in-law, brother-in-law and friend.
Robert attended Paul Smith’s College and during the 1980 Winter Olympics, he left college to work for ABC News. Rob was an entrepreneur, owning a taxi company, Adirondack Auto Rental and Alpine Auto Body all in Lake Placid. He had a passion for classic cars and muscle cars. Rob’s pride and joy was his Pontiac GTO — a survivor vehicle he found hidden in an old barn. He was an avid fisherman but mostly, Rob was a golf fiend, having memberships in several golf courses and golfed on many amateur Golf Channel AM Tour Tournaments, he was very passionate about the game.
Rob is survived by his wife of more than 12 years, Marcia (Beaton); two daughters and a son-in-law, Meghan and Daniel Merkle and Caitlin Bugbee; two stepsons, Stanley Jr. and Matthew Pilawa; sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Robert Whalen; brother and sisters-in-law Joseph Jr. and Sandi (Felone) Beaton, Rikard and Ann (Cole) Beaton, Aron Beaton, Robert and Eunice (Beaton) Amidon, and Bryan and Monica (Beaton) Zevotek. He is also survived by three grandsons, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Tromontano, MD; David Mastrianne, MD; Sara F. Ames, MSN, AOCNP; and the High Peaks Hospice team, Morgan, Robyn, Lauren, Kristen, Braydon, Carol and Matt. As well as his other health care providers for all their care and support.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. The Rev. John Yonkovig and the Rev. Martin Cline will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.
