Fund benefits students, educators
Dear Editor,
The Educational Opportunity Fund for the Lake Placid Central School District is delighted to announce that the following teacher grant applications, totaling $2,982 were passed at our November board meeting.
We were delighted to approve $895 for LPMHS teacher Haley Fremante’s application for the ‘Gellin’ with Geometry’ resource, which will be used to enhance the Family Math Night organized by the school. This will allow new, reusable material to be included in the event.
In addition, the board was very pleased to approve K-5 Math specialist Amanda Blackman’s $1,687 request for four Math Stackers Learning Systems, which will directly help address the educational opportunity gap for early years’ learners.
Lastly, we will again support the LPMHS Girls’ Soccer team college visit and experience, to the tune of $400. This has proved a great opportunity for the players to experience not only college soccer, but campus life and exposure to the college process. We are proud to support Alexa Bowler’s grant application.
The Ed Op Fund continues to actively support the work of our educators within the LPCSD, helping to bridge the opportunity gap for our students. We would like to thank our generous donors for their support, without whom we could not do this valuable work. We wish our community a happy and peaceful holiday season.
