LAKE PLACID — The 40th annual High Peaks Cyclery Mini Triathlon race series kicked off on Monday, June 24 at the at the Mirror Lake Beach.

Sam Boese, of Saranac Lake, and Elizabeth Izzo, of Lake Placid, were the top finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. Both competed in the 30 to 39 age group.

Boese completed the course in 59 minutes, 4 seconds. Colin Delaney of Wilmington was second on the men’s side in 59:31, followed by Matt Cook of Lake Placid in 1:01:26

Izzo finished the triathlon in 1:04:49, while Carol Pearl of Plattsburgh was second overall in 1:21:26 and Erica LaFountain of Potsdam was third in 1:22:47.

The race series is hosted every Monday night until Aug. 12. This summer’s races start at 6:30 p.m. and feature a 400-yard swim in Mirror Lake, a 12-mile bike around the River Road Loop, and a 3-mile run down and back Mount Whitney Road.
